Hunting for Vintage Furniture is a somewhat new hobby for me. I have always had a fascination with good design, from clothing to architecture, it all intrigues me. I love anything that is multi-functional, compact, or just plain smart. And of course anything just unique in it's appearance will catch my eye, and I can appreciate it for just that.
Vintage furniture fascinates me for a variety of reasons. The newest twist is that it is the "green thing to do", but before that came an appreciation for hand craftsmanship, patina, and unique items that will rarely be produced the old fashioned way in our new world economy. As I source out new items for the shop, it is a rare but exciting moment when I find Mid Century Modern pieces.
Although these hardly fall into the "I love the patina" category, and I can remember seeing these items in houses visited as child, their look is effortless, clean, and timeless. It appeals to men as much as it does to women, and there is something cool and swanky about a room that has an air of Mod about it.
We have a nice selection for Mid Century Modern Pieces in the store this month, but you never know, they may be gone tomorrow. I have yet to find their replacements, but I will continue to be madly in search of more Marvelous Mod.
